What is Blank Slate?
Blank Slate is photography that stands out from the crowd, bringing striking images, beautiful landscapes and a different philosophy to photography.
It's also a theory that suggests we are not slaves to our genes and are entirely shaped by our environment.
Blank Slate photography is photography shaped by the environment we live in, play in and travel through, entirely dependent on the perception of that environment, without preconceived ideas as to what photography should be.
It also showcases the beautiful industrial heritage of North Wales, involving quite a lot of...slate.

Photography of all sorts
We're not bounded by traditional definitions at Blank Slate - but don't take that to mean the images you'll see aren't high quality. What we want to do is challenge the norm, the accepted, the popular and interpret landscapes a bit differently.
You'll see that a lot of the images are monochrome, and that's deliberate. The removal of colour brings a beauty to the light itself and only then can the intricacies of relief, texture, shadow and atmosphere be cleanly communicated.
However, that said, we have a variety of colour images, and in these days of digital magic most of the shots you see in the gallery are available in full colour or with a range of filters - some of which are showcased in the colour gallery.

Behind the lens
Behind the lens is Graham, who founded Blank Slate to display his work. Based in North Wales he has been inspired by the post industrial landscapes and sought after adventures in them and the interfaces between the natural and the man made. What some see as derelict and defunct, he sees as opportunities for exploration, and adventure, be that with or without the camera.
He's also an active videographer, with several YouTube channels - so if you prefer moving pictures, head over to check them out.
